Monarch Butterfly Chrysalis Brooch
This super cool brooch shows the transition that the chrysalis of a Monarch butterfly goes through; from when it is first formed to just before the butterfly emerges.
Initially, the chrysalis is soft and bright green, but soon hardens into a protective casing. Inside, the caterpillars body breaks down almost completely, before reforming into that of a butterfly. Before the butterfly is ready to emerge, the casing becomes transparent, and the colours and patterns of the butterfly wings become visible. How amazing is that?!
The acrylic chrysalises are light green and black respectively, and measure 53cm in height. The fine details are laser engraved and hand painted. The two chrysalis hang from a brown acrylic 'branch', and the whole piece is backed in clear acrylic.
The stainless steel brooch pin has a locking clasp for added security, an sits behind the top 'branch'.
