The chemical bonds have been engraved into a clear acrylic backing and filled in with black paint. Oxygen and nitrogen atoms are represented in bold pieces of red and blue acrylic.
The serotonin molecule measures 11.5cm (4.5 inches) in width. The circumference of the necklace including the chain is approximately 22 inches.
All jewellery findings on the necklace are stainless steel. The necklace is fastened with a lobster clasp.
